Operations

The older trees are just over 4.5 years (Sengon and Kadjimas), all the initial work related to development of the plantation is completed.
The older trees (all the land, NW side of road) have developed a strong overhead canopy, so there is little or no clearing or maintenance needed. They have all recently had 12,5 kg of organic compost spread around their roots and will continue to grow until final harvesting.
The younger Jabon trees (all the land, NW side of the road)were planted early 2015. They are still getting compost bi annually, young trees are checked for damage and replaced if necessary. There is some clearing to be done every 3 months as well as limb pruning once a year for the next two years. The plantation is walked monthly to see that there are no insect infestations while the plants are young, once the plants are passed two years, there is little or no pest control needed.
We have one farmer working on the plantation, on a continual basis. He has lived in the area all his life, his family owns adjacent property to us and this is where he lives with his family. We are the only source of continual income for him. He does some subsistence farming to provide for his family and he partners with us in our cattle ownership project.
The property has good solid road access, this allows ease of harvesting and the trees can be cut and hauled to trucks for transport to wood or paper mills.
